Is that camera for me?

Weekend

This was a great weekend for us. Saturday Juliet went to a picnic with Connie and had a great time playing with twin 1 year olf boys. This child just loves herself little friends. Sunday, we headed to the new Resident welcome picnic before driving down to Binghamton for Michaels graduation dinner. Juliet of course, wanted to her own menu:

After dinner (she ate zucchini for the first time, and enjoyed it emmensly) she played with Great Aunt Sue who attempted to teach her the proper way to use a phone. Of course, Juliet insisted the proper way was to suck on the phone... but at least she didn't dial 911 by accident (just 6660)

Then, Babchi gave Juliet her first piano 'lesson'. Juliet enjoyed it so much that she kept putting Babchi hands back on the keyboard when she stopped playing!

Monday, we went and played in the pool, of which mummy got tired well before Juliet did, went to see Great Uncle Steve at work and got a clean bill of health for our eyes (well Juliet got a clean bill anyway). She was so well behaved in the office- was fascinated by all the eye lights and tools. Was not happy when it was mummys turn! And then we headed back to Babchi's for dumplings YUM. Michael tried to teach Juliet how to use the phone, but he had about as much success as Aunty Sue did.

Now we are home, and tired. But had to try on our new hairclips that were in the mail when we got home.

Kitty kitty kitty

Dinner for Juliet the last night was lamb. I just baked it and cut it into little mouth sized bites. She gagged a couple times- mainly on pieces that were too long but did really well. I was nervous about self-feeding meat, but she did well.

Of course, she dropped a piece on the floor, and Ninja came rushing over to eat it. Except- Juliet noticed. And wanted to touch him. Ninja wasn't so keen on that idea. (I was lucky to get this picture, about 5 seconds later Ninja took off)

Can you see the fingers twitching in eagerness and the ahhhhhhhh sound of effort trying to reach him?

Rice Cereal

Juliet ate Rice cereal for the first time last night. She LOVED it.

Movin' and shaking... well standing

Juliets worked out how to stand in her crib. And while she's not crawling (yet) she has certainly worked out how to move!

Some of Juliets favorite toys are actually books- I guess that bodes well for the her future reading skills. She's also attempting to crawl. It's been pretty hard to capture on video- mainly because she stops doing it to stare at the camera, but here is one of her going after a book she'd previously pulled off my shelf.

In this one she shows her dexterity for going in circles to get where she wants to go. And her love of my DVD's (the bottom two shelves are no longer alphabetised)

Sad

Here in the US this weekend is fathers day. All the ads for fathers day gifts are making me very sad. I bought myself a gift for mothers/fathers day this year. I had Dad's wedding ring engraved. I can't even put into words the way it feels every day knowing he's not here to learn how Juliet is growing and changing. Or how she is growing and changing me. He pops into my head at random moments- like when I got the ingredients to make egg and bacon pie, and though that I wished he was around to make sure I got the recipee right. It's always the little things.

More pictures

I finally got some more of the Disney pictures to show you.
Here Juliet is with Pooh and gang. The person inside the pooh costume had a great time playing with her, as did tigger... we missed a really cute picture of Juliet sucking Tiggers nose- very cute.

Look mum- my very own Eyore!

She had a great time with Ms Connie including a fantastic game they inveted called "Not my glasses!" (well its not really a game, but Juliet loves it anyway.

And then of course- my very own sleeping beauty when we got home

She's moving

I took this video last night for you all to see Juliets little crawl. She's on the bed, so it's not quite how she does it- but you can see she moves!

6 Month Pictures

So these have been a little while coming, but I just got them so it's not my fault! I had these taken the day Juliet was 6 months. They are totally adorable, but I was pretty unhappy with the studio in spite of the great shots they turned out. I love the fact that they show a bit of Juliets personalitys- like the PJ's connie got her- she's sassy just like me!

Disney Day 2 and Trip home

Disney world was... well Disney. Waaayyyy too hot and crowded. Actually I think that Disney Land is much nicer than world. The weather is not so oppressivly muggy, and the park just seems so much less crowded. Like the entry for "it's a small world" ran along a building at World while at land there is a nice park like entry. Most of the rides are like that- it seems that Disney Land is much bigger and pleasanter- Disney World seems all crammed together. Overall we had a good time, although we didn't get to get on splash mountain because the ride broke right as we got in the fast pass line (in spite of waiting around the park for 2 hours for our fast pass time). We also didn't get to meet Mickey- I wasn't getting in line for an hour for an infant to have her picture taken with mickey.
Overall I have to say that I was very happy with the hotel. Staying "on site" has it's perks- my favorite being that I could shop and have my packages sent directly to the hotel- no carrying stuff!!
Juliet was great on the ride home (as she always is). The highlight of the ride was at our layover in DC. We had a couple hour layover and decided to have some lunch. I plopped Juliet in a highchair and was feeding her banana. A gentleman at another table noticed that she kept scooting forward, and then leaning waaay back, and offered his pillow to put behind her back. I declined at first saying it would get covered in banana, but he insisted and said that if the pillow could survive Iraq it could survive my banana. Turns out he was an airforce man on a 3 week vacation from Iraq. We chatted for a bit, and when it was time to leave he wanted a picture with my daughter (who was COVERED). I gave them my email so I'll post the picture when I recieve it. He also insisted we take the pillow home, so we currently have it on the floor in the living room where Juliet loves to play with it.

Disney Day 1

We arrived in Florida on Saturday evening. The flight was pretty uneventful except for getting stuck in Washington for an hour due to storms in Florida. Of course we got stuck AFTER we had taxied from the gate *sigh*. The hotel (Regal Sun) is actually pretty nice. THere were so many bad reviews of this place, but so far I've been really impressed. Gerard and his wife Ashley (I think I spelled that wrong- I think it's Ashlie... but I'm unsure) came up from where they live for dinner. In spite of my absolute exhaustion (I didn't manage to sleep on the plane and had only had 3 hours sleep the night before) we wandered around downtown disney, shopping for gifts and ate at the Earl of Sandwhich- YUMMMMM. Gerard and Ashlie(ey) decied to stay the night and we all went to Hollywood Studios yesterday.
There I met up with some internet friends of mine, Matt, Bethany, Their three girls and Robbie. We hung out for the morning, and then after lunch went our own way. Highlight of the day was the ToyStory ride.... that was AWSOME... thank god Robbie got us fast passes- the wait was OVER an hour! At lunch, Robbie held Juliet, and I think it was the first baby he'd ever held... he was terrified! It was petty funny. It certainly didn't help that she was overtired and wanted mummy and started crying... poor guy!

Gerard and Ashlea (see I knew I'd got it wrong earlier!

She's an animal

My daughter that is. She's actually a ton of different animals.
-In the bathtub she's a bird- putting her arms and legs as high in the air as she can get them, while laying on her tummy- trying to make herself move by sheer force of will.
-Since one of her lower teeth has starting cutting through the gums she's been a snake- sticking her tounge out, touching chin, touching nose, touching chin... like shes smelling the air with her tounge. Of couse she thinks it's hysterical when I copy her (I didn't think it was quite as hysterical when I was doing too close and she promptly tried to eat my tounge- yes I got french kissed by my own daughter- I now keep a safe distance!)
-On the floor she's a lizard, using the 'sticky' palms of her hands to pull herself forward instead of learning to crawl. (My mum gave me a great trick ie take the rest of her clothes of she she'll stick... but I'm not ready for her to crawl yet....)
-In bed at night she's a fish. You know the kind that swim through the water with their mouths open collecting plankton. She lays in bed asleep wiggling around with her mouth wide open blindly seeking... head this way and that... slightly grunting until she finds the nipple, latches on, and sighs back into a deep slumber.
-And of course she's a cat. You know- the one that curiosity killed ;)

Squirrel

I have a suicidal squirrel on my street. I swear! This is the third time this week the little bugger has run across the street in front of my car, stopped, waited, waited, waited and then SCOOTED to the other side. He stops in the same place every time. I swear he's playing chicken!

7 Months

I cannot believe Juliet is 7 months old today. I feel like I was just pregnant and giving birth. I have to say there is NOTHING like waking up the way I woke up this morning. I felt something against the side of my face and I opened my eyes to see her laying there, looking at me, her hands touching my cheeks. As soon as I opened my eyes, she coo'd and smiled- so happy to be with her mummy.

Lil Stinker

Juliet has FINALLY worked out how to go forwards. However I keep telling her that she is cheating. She places her palms against the floor, and pulls herself on her belly LOL

Poor Juliet... it's been a rough week for her. She's finally cut a tooth so she's not in as much pain. However she is now working herself into a frenzy trying to crawl. The poor mite can't get any sleep. Even when she is nursing her little legs start going crazy. When she is trying to go to sleep, her little eyes will drift close, and then both legs will start cycling. If she's on her tummy, her little bottom will start popping into the air. Her eyes will fly open, and the whole world is there. It doesn't help that she's more interactive with the world, and even blankets are great toys. The cats are not helping this process talking to Juliet and I the second she closes her eyes, and she's fascinated with them so of course she has to see.
Once she goes to sleep she's sleeping great though- last night she went 6 hours!
